The Desert Spine

Shiprock is massive, but its true geological wonder is the radiating volcanic dikes. To capture the unreal scale of this vertical rock fin slicing through the New Mexico desert floor, I had to fly the drone far back. The resulting image emphasizes the sheer, impossible length of this geological spine rising from the flatlands. It represents the kind of adventure where the landscape makes you feel incredibly small, revealing earth's violent history.
